Deacon Michael Kristan has been actively involved in fundraising aimed to unite agencies and organizations in their efforts to address human trafficking in Rochester.
St. Michael's FPI owns real property valued at 1880 E Ridge Rd, Rochester, NY 14622, in Units 7 and 8. The lower two units are currently leased to a law firm. The Institute is in the process of developing clinic space for practitioners who will adhere to the ethical and religious directives of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, with an expected opening in the fall of 2024.
St. Michael's FPI encompasses three main ministries, with a fourth in development:
- Family Life Center: A medical clinic dedicated to upholding healthcare in line with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Sursum Corda: A space for men seeking virtuous living in community, particularly those struggling with porn and/or sexual addiction.
- St. Josephine Bakhita Fund: Support for women emerging from sex trafficking, in collaboration with front-line agencies and organizations.
- Living Waters (upcoming): Support for individuals suffering from broken relationships due to the disintegration of their sexuality and spirituality.
Deacon Michael Kristan serves as President of St. Michael's FPI, with Scott Schaefer and Paul Domagola as Vice Presidents, and Trevor Spears as Treasurer. The Board of Directors is currently in formation.
St. Michael's FPI began on September 29th, 2022, on the Feast of the Archangels, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, and officially became a 501(c)(3) organization in January 2024.
