Join Peter Vazquez & Ayesha Kreutz on the Next Step Show for a great conversation with La'Ron D. Singletary, Candidate for Congress in the New York’s 25th Congressional District and Virginia Eleanor McIntyre, Mezzosoprano, and winner of numerous international competitions.
La’Ron Singletary was born and raised in Rochester, New York and is a graduate of the Rochester City School District. Growing up, La’Ron was taught that hard work, plus sacrifice, would equate to success. Education was important in the Singletary household. However, it was also understood that entering a vocation after high school was just as important as he and his sibling began to navigate adulthood. The dream of his parents was to give their children a better chance at the future, while striving to leave future generations better than the current.
Upon graduating from John Marshall High School and Monroe Community College, La’Ron earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Keuka College in 2006. From there, he attended SUNY Brockport College and graduated in 2009 with a Master of Public Administration Degree.
After graduating from Monroe Community College, La’Ron joined the Rochester Police Department. Serving in a variety of assignments, he received numerous awards, attended career focused conferences, and graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy Session #266. In 2016, he received the International Association of Chiefs of Police 40 Under 40 Award which recognizes individuals who exemplify leadership and commitment to their profession. He has served on numerous panel discussions on the topic of law enforcement and leadership. Following an award-winning career that spanned 20-years, La’Ron ultimately rose through the ranks to become the Police Chief in the City that made him to the man he is today.
La’Ron grew up in the City of Rochester and currently calls the Town of Henrietta his home. Having spent half of his life in service and leadership positions in our community, he will continue to be a staunch advocate for principles that define faith, family, and friends. He will continue the advocacy in Washington, D.C. so that everyone has a chance at prosperity in the hope of achieving the American Dream.
La’Ron has a passion for servant leadership and is eager to reform systems that have been plaguing our residents. Empowering our families with school choice, improving our educational system, and expanding business opportunities to help our residents thrive is why La’Ron is running for Congress in New York’s 25th Congressional District.

Additionally, we'll delve into how these young adults are supported beyond job opportunities, receiving assistance in areas like technical skills, childcare, and monetary incentives, as well as access to essential services such as food and housing.
